Gauze and Stiches

I am sitting here with gauze in my mouth after getting my cyst removed or should I say salivary gland. The procedure went great. I got to the doctors office at 1:30p.m. and they were able to get me right in. I sat in the chair for about 15min while the nurse talked to me and we both waited on the doctor. I was a little nervous, but talking to the nurse got my mind off of it. And then... the doctor walked in and that nerve came back, but it wasn't to bad. I made up my mind at the beginning that I wasn't going to freak out or get overly nervous. The doctor was really nice, the kind of guy you would want as a grandpa. He explained everything as they went and I think that made me relax. They stuck my tongue with the numbing medicine and I didn't really feel it. And then he took this weird buzzy thing to my tongue and I guess he used that to remove the cyst. I began to get light headed and pale so they laid me back and put and wet rag on my head and turned on the fan. They finished up with the stitches and took my blood pressure just to make sure everything was OK. They said it was a little low, but not to much, so I waited there just a little longer while they went and got mom. By the time mom came in I was feeling better and they gave us some instructions and we were on our way. Mom bought me a shake from Sonic and a mountain dew. I tried to suck the shake from a straw and I couldn't. I needed to eat something so I could take pain medicine but it was to hard for me to swallow without my tongue being in pain. When I got home I decide to take a nap and just rest before I had to go somewhere that night. After I got up, I slowly ate egg salad and drank my shake with a spoon. My tongue is still in pain and it is hard for me to eat anything that requires chewing. My speech is getting better, however I think talking makes it hurt worse. I didn't think the numbing would last this long but the tip of my tongue is still a little numb. I was surprised that the bleeding stop so soon after they were done. I hope it will recover quickly. I go back in next Monday to get the stitches removed. That is the story of my experience today. I hope I didn't gross you out to much.
